About Jake

Jake is a lifelong resident of the area. He was born and raised in Farmington, and is a 2009 graduate of Farmington High School. After High School he attended the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul and studied Business Administration with concentration in Leadership and Management. During his senior year of college, he decided to run for a seat on the Farmington Area School Board, and in November 2012, he was elected at the age of 21--making him one of the youngest school board members in state history!
For 8 years he served on the Farmington Area School Board. During this time he focused on approving historic investments into the classroom and construction on each of the buildings in the Farmington Area School Districts. He is passionate about individualizing education for each student and honoring the agency of each student, teacher, administrator, and any staff member. The highlight of his time on the Board was hiring a new Superintendent to continue the work of the Board and prior Superintendent into the future. After that process Jake decided it was time to hand the baton of leadership off to a new generation of Board leaders.

Jake also served as a School Board representative to the Economic Development Authority for the City of Farmington. He was excited to serve on that Board and help develop policies to increase future growth in Farmington. Over the years, Jake had also been a member of the Farmington Dew Days planning committee and Farmington Area Education Foundation as a director for both organizations. And in 2021, Jake was recruited and has served as the President of the Tiger Fan Club, the organization responsible for raising money to help supplement athletic and extra-curricular activity budgets for Farmington High School.

In addition to his public service commitment, Jake worked for nearly 11 years for Thomson Reuters in a variety of sales and project management roles. In May 2021, he accepted a new job as Business Development Specialist with Finch & Daisy Consulting, based in Farmington. In his new role he is involved in developing new business, marketing, social media strategy, content strategy, community involvement, and small business consulting. He is excited to help grow and develop a local small business and work in Farmington.
Jake continues to live in Historic Downtown Farmington, mere miles from his childhood home. Over the last few months he has also been planning his future with the love of his life, his fiancé, Bridget. Bridget is a Middle School Counselor at Falcon Ridge Middle School in Apple Valley. She loves Jake's passion for service and you'll see her at many of his events cheering him on from the back of the room. They have two dogs, Ripley (black lab mix) and Knox (mini golden doodle). In their spare time they enjoy running and exploring all that our state has to offer. If you see them running, make sure you stop and say "hi" or wave!
